Abstract
David Abraham examines the interrelation of immigration, integration and solidarity in the capitalist West of the 20th and 21st centuries. Using the example of Germany, the USA and Israel, the lawyer and historian shows why "soft on the inside, hard on the outside", once the basic formula for establishing stable welfare states, will no longer be viable in the future.
